M2WSA LP ALLJust a small entry as club wasn't going to do WPX. Didn't spend as much time as I would have liked. Still was fun when bands were working for me. Need a better HF antenna, even a wire dipole. Club should be back to full power for CQ WW.
M5AEFSO QRP ALL129 QSO's . I heard but did was not able to work 9M8Z and work 9K2K. I was pleased to work 6W1SJ for new DXCC Very difficult with numerous stations just not hearing my call. 2 Watts QRP
MJ4KMSHWe decided this year to create the unusual MJ4 prefix, by taking our MD4K call for a fun entry in CQWPX to Jersey. One of our ops had to pull out due to a bad 'flu, so then we were 3 for a multi-single effort. We had a lot of fun, in bad conditions on HF again, but seemed to create some interest! LetS hope the sunspots return some time soon...
MU0FALSA LP 20Mpart time effort ,I Have lost my SSB mojo, much happier on cw ,but glad to be a bonus mult for a few people
MW1MDHSO LP ALLGreat contest, bands were packed to the rafters, and it was quite a challenge! Some stations running a few kHZ from the band-edge! Got best-ever DX of Malaysia, so was quite a worthwhile weekend! Running: ICOM 7400, 100W, Heil ProSet headset, Hustler 5-BTV, MFJ-962D ATU

N3CHXSO LP ALLICOM IC746 to a Kenwood AT-220 Tuner feeding an Inverted Vee @ 55Ft > 20Ft Finally a decent 15 meter opening both days, maybe a light in a long dark tunnel?? Electrical storms kept me out of the running for a good portion of the contest!
N3FP/4SO HP ALLGreat contest, even with all the thunderstorms in Georgia.
N3KUNSO LP ALLHaving the whole weekend is a real plus, another great and very fun contest 73s
N3UMSO HP ALLI have done WPX SSB seriously every year since 2003. Until this year, my strategy was to get maximum QSO points by going after 3 to 6 point intercontinental QSOs (mostly EU) until Sun. afternoon, when I would turn the beam west and run W/K stations for a few hours. This worked fine for 4 years ('03 - '06) when there were many sunspots and great 15 and 20 m. openings to EU for many hours per day. I easily ran up well over 2000 QSO points and over 500 prefixes for claimed scores over 1 million points every year. Then, in '07 and '08, the falling sunspot count pushed my claimed scores down to ~825K and ~634K respectively, despite more effort and better results on 40 and 80 m. So, this year I tried a new strategy: run W/K stations whenever I could get a rate 3 or 4 times higher than that possible to EU, enough to make up for 1-point instead of 3 to 6 point QSOs. (A steady few VE and other NA QSOs at 2 to 4 points each would raise the average to 1.2 or 1.5 points/QSO even in hours with very few intercontinental QSOs.) This worked especially well early mornings 11 - 13 Z on 40 m., when SW broadcasters were QRT, but also mid-morning or late afternoon EDT on 20 m. when EU signals were weak and/or sparse. Comparing '07 with '09 shows how the strategies differ. In '07, in 27 hrs. I got 748 QSOs and 1883 QSO points for 2.5 points/QSO, and 438 prefixes for a claimed score of ~825K. In '09, in 22 hrs. I got 842 QSOs but only 1732 QSO points for 2.1 points/QSO and 459 prefixes for a claimed score of ~847 K. I made 38.6% W/K QSOs in '07, but 54.4% in '09. So, the new strategy worked pretty well, mostly because the high rates of W/K QSOs produced more prefixes/hour than working EUs at lower rates, enough to offset the deficit in QSO points.
N4DXISO HP ALLFirst major rainstorm and lightning Sunday 2 am, every thing had to be disconnected.
N4FFPSO LP 40MHearing West Coast very well but had hard time getting through with LP and low antenna.

N6ZESO LP ALLNice surprise to hear 15 meters open. No new countries in this one, but fun anyway.
N7QSSO LP ALLNice to see 15 meters open!
N8AJN/0MSHWPX SSB '09 was tremendous fun for us ! Station operations went very well, which further added to our enjoyment of every QSO. See you next year, sunspots or not !
N8IISO HP 40MI made huge numbers of stateside Q's and my quad loop worked very well for domestic Q's, more 40M USA Q's than ever in over 30 years of contesting in any contest. Trying to run EU was a struggle and I missed the first night follwed by below normal condx on Saturday night. KH7XS was ginourmous 20 db over S9 about 90 minutes past my sunrise!
N8QESO LP ALLHad little time to operate, but I had fun when I did.
N8ROKSO LP 20MWish I could have played more. Got started and was then called away and was unable to return. Seemed like fun what little I was there.
N9TFSO LP 40MI knew I would be part time, but did not know what times I would be able to operate, so I decided to do a single band on 40m, figuring 40 would be open to somewhere at any time of day and night. I was also looking to fill in some holes on SSB for the ARRL triple play award. Ended up getting in about 12 hours here and there. Sure thought contacts would have come a bit easier. S&Ped and called CQ about 50/50. I think I was more productive most of the times I S&Ped, but always seemed to work all the new blood real quick. Band got noisy Saturday night with the spring snow storm arriving. Made an early exit Saturday night, as I was supposed to run in a 8K race Sunday morning. Well that never happened due to about 6" to 7" of snow falling between 3am and 10am Sunday morning! Went to church instead, and prayed for good band conditions for when I returned home! I'm sure I didn't come close to breaking anyones 40m low power TB-WIRE record, But I did enjoy playing in the contest for the time I had. See you again next year. Station conditions, Icom 756 ProIII, 100 watts to a Alpha Delta DX-DD dipole at 35 feet drooping down to about 20 feet above ground. 73 Gene, N9TF
NA0CWSO QRP ALLThanks to N0KE, Phil, for letting me use his station in this contest! It was an equalizer for the lousy conditions!
ND3RSO LP ALLHad a great time....Can't wait until the CW test...
ND6SSA LP ALLCU IN CQP
