NH6XOSO LP 10MUsed 3-element 10m monobander slap-dash mounted above the roof line Friday night
NH7TMMThis group was organized by Jim Neiger, N6TJ, who was scheduled to join us, but he had to cancel his plans at the last minute. Many thanks to Alex, KH6YY and Tracy, KH6CAT for the fine hospitality at this wonderful station
NI0KSO HP ALLAnother one in the books. I enjoy this one because the mults rack up quickly but I have trouble with the long BIC time. There were a lot of notables, though. N3!QE's AI voice keying was really, really revolutionary, but I'm sure the naysayers will claim it'll ruin contesting especially when voice recognition is perfected. Propagation was pretty good and there was a huge difference in arrival angles. My 80' and 50' 20M Yagis were hearing completely different signals. I played with my 2-band Yagi that's hanging at 25'. On Saturday sigs we amazingly loud, I got a +30 report from the east coast. Murphy didn't stay away though. I spent several hours chasing trouble, including trying to fix the rotor on tower 1. I contest for the fun, and there was lots of it!
NI1QSO LP ALLI was fighting a migrane all weekend and really felt I was struggling. I had to take a lot more breaks. So in the end I can really say I was surprised at my score. If I was able to put in a full 30h and had my new low band antenna up I think the score could have topped 1M. Friday night I was using my new PR-781 mic. I was happy with it at first, but I just didn't seem to have the 'punch' I did with my iCM mic. I switched to my Pro-7 with the iCM element on Saturday morning and was finally back to busting pileups. I think until I figure out how to pre-amp the PR-781 (which Heil says is not required) I will revert to my 20 year old iCM. I tried running several times - one time for 30 minutes. I had one contact. So it was back to S&P. I finally figured out the score reporting situation with Contestsonline and that was fun to watch. One final note: I'm not a big fan of SSB contest but it was OK once I got the mic situation sorted out. Still, I could tell I was not the only one struggling. My friend Janez S51DX, who is usually booming in for me, was so weak I couldn't copy him. K2RB said he also had trouble getting into the groove. So I guess I was OK despite my score
NJ1FMSLmuch of the operating time was spent setting up the K2DLL remote station. Thank you to the Saratoga County Amateur Radio Association for the use of the station
NJ1QSO LP 10MWhen I found my h/b Doublet wasn't performing like I'd hoped, I constructed a 10-meter dipole early on in the contest. Made just enough of a difference!
NJ1TSO LP ALLI am deaf had to use super loud but it was fun
NL7VSO HP ALLGood contest. 40 was open to Asia
NL8FSO HP 80M80 was kinda slow most people some where else
NO3YSO HP ALLDidn't expect to have this much fun from W7! I thought a quick 24-hour sprint in W7 would be enough, plus had to be home Sunday super early and missed the 2nd day European opener... but that didn't matter, the 60 mile drive and adrenaline rush was too addictive! Back to the cabin for the full 48-hour battle with KS7V (K7NT) which was most definately a high-octane showdown, a true test of endurance. Imagine this: a seasoned race car driver, KS7V, and I, locked in a tight, wheel-to-wheel duel, not on asphalt, but across the airwaves. Every signal, every contact, was a strategic maneuver, a calculated risk. He'd expertly navigate a pileup, gaining ground, then I'd counter, pushing the mountain station to the limit with S&P and a lucky pile of my own, reclaiming the lead. It was a relentless exchange, a masterclass in radio finesse. The polar openings on 20-10 meters were the ultimate racetrack, and Sunday's surge was the final lap, a thrilling push to the finish. In the end Mike saw the checkered flag just a bumper ahead of me! Huge thanks to Mike, K7NT, for the incredible playground, and to the entire ham radio community for the electrifying competition. The playing field (racers) keep showing up with new records, great new stories and adventures to share, and a lifetime hobby that keeps on giving. Your brilliance and technical mastery continue to inspire me to return again and again to the radio mountain or a tropical outpost too. 73 KL2A (NO3Y) www.qrz.com/db/kl2a 2L W8JK 40-10M Bi-Directional Yagi 80M Double Zepp ICOM + ACOM

OK1CLDSO LP 20MReally enjoyed the contest, made 310 QSOs into 77 DXCC countries (and 26 CQ zones). One DXCC was new for me - New Caledonia (FK8). I'm glad I also made a QSO to Galapagos Islands (HC8), my 1st in about 15 years and the very 1st one on 20 meters. Other highlights were e.g. QSOs to Hawaii (KH6), Australia (VK) and New Zealand (ZL). Top 5 most contacted DXCCs were Italy (38 QSOs), Spain (27), USA (23), France (21) and England (19). Many thanks for all the QSOs! 73, Ondra OK1CLD

OL5GM2This contest was quite unique for my station (OL5Y) - we hosted a group of young or beginner HAMs to give them a chance to try a big HF contest from a station with decent equipment. We chose the Multi-Two category and OL5G contest call. The main team consisted of male and female operators from 8 to 21 years old, with their senior supervisors operating for several hours of the contest. A total of 15 operators took turns, and for most of them it was their first experience with an HF contest. The whole event was sponsored by the Czech Radio Club headed by its secretary Liba OK1LYL
