S51JSO HP 20MThis time, I was again contesting from S54E contest location, but this year on 20m band. I took along my KX2 and FT-2000 radios and new SPS Expert 1,3k linear amplifier. I used 3 element Opti Beam from S54E. Began with KX2, just to see how does it performs in tough conditions. I set VF gain to -4dB, and all was OK untill my friend Leo - S50R, turn his legal power and 5 el beam to my direction. This was too much for this radio, and I had to lower the VF gain to -8dB, to avoid his signal brake through all over the band. But then I had problems receiving week signals. So I switched over to FT-2000, where there is less problems with nearby strong signals. But at that time, I overlooked that my output power on transceiver is a little to high for my amplifier, and from about 05 for nearby operators. Than someone key me CHEERPS, and I corrected my driving power and things became normal. My sincere apologies to all that had problems because of me! And then at about 12 rotor cables out, and wait nearly an hour to thunderstorm pass by. And then, 3 hours later, right when my rates became very nice, came another, much stronger an ?louder? thunderstorm as the first one. It was around 15 that there are coming more of them, I decided to pack and drow home. I was a little disappointed, because propagations look good, and result would be much better as I expected, but one can?t beat the nature. Maybe there will be more luck next time!

S58JSA HP 40MI had only limited time available, still single band (40m) was a good choice with a lot of active stations
SB0ASA QRP ALLThanks for a great and interesting WPX CW this year and it was really challenging with many active signals and with the most varied conditions on the frequencies here in Sweden. Unfortunately I did not reach all the stations that I called or heard on different bands, partly my signals were weak and in addition there were very many stations running on the bands with sometimes high QRM. Not even with the sharpest and narrowest filters I could separate some signals from each other. With this, unfortunately, my signal, SB0A, was also sometimes received as either HB0A or S60B. But thanks again for a truly exciting and fun radio weekend and I also hope that we will meet in the air again in next year's WPX CW. Best 73's SB0A (Op Mikael SM0LPO)
